Lydia Li is a Chinese composer and orchestrator based in Los Angeles, California. Since 2018, she’s composed riveting, unique, emotionally driven music for film, television, video games, and emerging media. 

 

Her music has been played, recorded, and performed all over the world with a focus in China and the United States. She served as the lead composer for the 40th Barbie Animated movie Barbie: Mermaid Power (Netflix). She has created music for multiple Chinese shows, including Bafan Shenyu which has accumulated over 40 million views on Tencent Video. She’s also worked on Stung, a film focused on showcasing the difficulties and struggles women face growing up, which screened across the globe from China to Canada to Sweden.

Lydia possesses deep knowledge, wealth of musical experiences and versatile skill sets. As a child she had discovered a passion for playing piano and creating melodies as well as singing in choir, which led her to choose composing as her career. Before becoming a composer, she had hosted a radio show as well as producing music for various radio programs in China. She has also earned a master’s degree in Music Composition for the Screen from Columbia College Chicago, one of the top two Film Scoring programs in the world. 

 

All in all, Lydia’s love for creativity and music shines throughout her numerous collaborative and individual works. Her drive for compelling storytelling and cathartic expression is conveyed through the uniquely created sound pallets she utilizes with each new project she takes on.
